Happy Beltane! Well, actually is Witches Night, Beltane is tomorrow. Sorry this is all the digital art I got done in time for this. I’ll do another post later unrelated to art. Enjoy!
Beltane is a Celtic word, meaning “the fires of Bel.” Bel, likely referred to the Celtic sun god, Belenus. The Celts used to light two bonfires because they believed it would purify themselves, as well as increase their fertility. Celebrating peak spring and moving toward summer season.
Also Beltane‘s sister festival, Walpurgisnacht (Witches Night) is a holiday celebrated on the last day of April that also goes by the names Valborg, Vappu, and Walpurgis Night. It is celebrated in several European and Scandinavian countries. It started out as the Pagan holiday Beltane.
