B6toxicity ☠️
What is wrong with me?! Contemplating my body malfunctions in 2020

B6toxicity ☠️

11.17.24

Don’t let it happen to you!

Good evening. I have been procrastinating on this post for a while. I really need to let you all know what is happening. I need to tell you because this could easily happen to you or someone you know and without knowing this, it could go untreated for a longtime, I suffered so you don’t have to, lol. Also if you also are suffering I’m going to help you help yourself get better.

First off about me, you probably know I’ve been detoxing from b6 toxicity for about two months. You may also know I have mthfr code mutations (compound heterozygous c677t and a1289c) and b12 deficiency. I’m all around messed up 😂.

I’ll briefly (yeah right, brief) explain b6toxicity and then add a video. After the video I’ll explain what I’m going through currently. I do not know how long I’ve been b6 toxic I’ve been supplementing for years without any breaks! 😬 I fear it has been a very very long time.

Recommended daily amount of b6 for an adult is between 1.7-1.9 mg. It is an important nutrient for the body, easily obtained from the food we eat. It is a water soluble vitamin, meaning it is usually excreted in the same day ingested, that is what makes b vitamins non-toxic. There is exception to the rule, b6, watch the video below for an explanation in depth by a medical professional.

Under normal circumstances people generally do not have adverse reactions to b6 naturally found in food (in its natural form). So with that, if you are somebody who does not supplement (multivitamins) you should be okay. Unless you eat a carnivore diet, frequent protein bars and shakes or energy drinks and certain prepackaged food with vitamins added. Some people’s body (like mine) may hold the perfect storm of genetic factors (inside body) combined with the epigenetic (environmental) to cause symptoms with smaller amounts of this vitamin. However everyone is susceptible to some form of toxicity with longterm use.

For an example, are you drinking Red Bull on the daily? At just one can it contains 7.2mg of synthetic b6. It may accumulate in your muscle cells if you have one dehydrating event, the b6 will possibly not be excreted, instead will be stored, not for a day but for months in your muscles, and worse, years in your nerve cells. Lack of water from an event like heavy workouts, drinking alcohol, smoking, diarrhea…etc. makes the body store b6. The muscles in our body can only hold 200mg so after the muscle cells are all full it moves stored b6 into our nerve endings. They are not supposed to be there, eventually nerve cells are damaged or die. It’s well known that b6 toxicity induces peripheral neuropathy at long term doses over 100mg a day, then recognized at only 10mg a few years ago I think 2017?

However more recent studies are showing more and more people taking a much smaller dosage as low as 2mg over a long period of time that are seeing peripheral neuropathy and now SFPN (small fiber polyneuropathy) normally found to be caused by diabetes. SFPN tends to diagnose as idiopathic when diabetes is not present. Now we know more. All forms of b6 are toxic when taken at super high doses not just synthetic, which is why carnivore diets should be looks at if nerve damage occurs, but the synthetic is usually the one studied. Let me add all synthetic vitamins at high doses are toxic, they compete with the natural forms of the vitamin and if both forms are in the bloodstream at the same time neither will be absorbed, causing deficiency, which can have some of the same symptoms. This will cause a spiraling of inner cell deficiency and blood toxicity simultaneously.

Here’s a quick explanation of SFPN 👇🏻

Stop supplements immediately, watch food labels, energy drinks and protein powders.

I’m going to now cut to a video explaining it by a professional. As I am not one, lol. This is the best I can find, I apologize for the distracting background music, it is very loud, lol. He still talks well about p5p and recommends it but I would still steer clear of it as supplement as the video is 3 yrs old, and more recent study’s suggest all b6 can be toxic.

Here is a brief explaination of what to expect healing to feel like, and how long

A recommended aid in healing,

R(ALA) to ease the process of nerve regeneration

Okay, that was a lot this will just be my introduction post. I‘ll follow up occasionally with recovery story videos. For in-depth information follow understandingb6toxicity on IG and FB group, there is also a webpage with info such as scientific papers on the subject and offer a low dose (under RDA standards) b complex vitamin that does not have b6 included if you feel you need a boost you aren’t getting from food, while detoxification process occurs.

Now my story 🥵, I’m going to keep this kind of short, been writing a longtime, and I’ll go into more depth in the next post about b6.

The short of it, I have suffered many years in a myriad of ways. Started showing symptoms of b12 deficiency at 27 yrs old, diagnosed at 30, I do not make intrinsic factor, so I have pernicious anemia, or IFD technically. I thought all symptoms was mainly from my b12 deficiency catching it too late causing irreversible nerve damage. I had fatigue, foot drop, weight gain, mental fog etc, when my problems didn’t resolve after supplementing I took it as too little too late. I must supplement b12 I cannot absorb it through food, I must take for the rest of my life.

At 34 yrs old I had my insomnia dehydration episode that put me in the hospital for a week. Was temporarily put on a benzo for a bit, and was permitted to get off it, no problems, never thought much more about it. I am not on any prescribed medication for anything now.

At 35 years old I found out about my MTHFR status through genetic testing. I had already been taking a multi b vitamin of some caliber since I was 30years old to add in all the cofactors that are necessary for methylation. I’ve changed doses and brands many times over the years but always took one, which of course included b6, always above the RDA by 100’s of percent. I thought I was doing the right thing. I never was concerned about taking too much because water soluble vitamins = flush out. Or so I thought.

At 38 yrs old my health declined a lot in the motor skills department I’d been loosing my ability to walk, I was really weak and forgot how to walk after breaking a toe, etc. I never fully regaining a steady gait. I took it as a normal part of my predicament and being dealt a shitty hand of cards.

Since that time I have never been able to just sit with my feet hanging down they will fall a sleep (become numb) they have to be up while I sit or blood pulls.

I had some swelling in New Mexico but it would go away and come back. I would loose the function of my arms and legs sometimes and have sleep paralysis which was scary. I lost some lung capacity after Covid which I didn’t contract until 2021. I had normal circadian rhythm with the sun.

Since I moved to Kansas I swelled up horribly which was a decompression problem, involving heart and blood pressure, but after that normalized I should have recovered from swelling. So then I thought it might be lymphedema at this point and thought it just another look at my shitty card hand. Now I see that b6toxicity holds not one or two but every.single.symptom I am suffering from. Insomnia is one of those tell tale symptoms, b6 is still running rampant. Swelling, burning skin, pins and needles, sweating problems, temperature regulating problems, sensitivity to light, easily sun burn, mobility problems, and the list goes on. Make sure your magnesium doesn’t have any added b6 to it, and it will aid your recovery.

This discovery even though it sucks, has given me new found hope. I initially was mad at myself for letting this happen, but I am starting to regain hope of living a normaler life. I am starting to feel the changes. I am now hopeful for a full recovery. This is it, I finally fucking figured it out.

The first two weeks feel like you are making a big recovery, then the third week after that you feel worse then when you were taking the b6, this is called recoil, and that lasts awhile 2-4months. I’m passed two months now, and just starting to fluctuate in feeling better, I still have insomnia, but my legs aren’t burning as much overnight. My ankle swelling is way down, almost normal looking. Still have humps of fluid on my feet and my calves fluid has drained some too. Now my problem area is my inner thighs the fluid has risen and is still moving up and out, there are lots of lymph nodes there. I had a leg cyst that went from hard to fluid now everything is starting to heal. My armpits are itchy af, as is my left shin. Blood pressure is good. If you’re quitting b6 like this get the 300-600mg of R[ALA]. This will aid in the almost unbearable burning skin as your nerves start firing off make sure it is the R type, very important, not the S type which is synthetic. Drink lots of water, get some salt and potassium in your diet. Try and exercise to sweat out the b6 from muscles if possible it needs motion to move it out. If you don’t sweat as it is one of the symptoms just do what you can, anything will help. As long as you stop supplementing it will eventually come out. Resume only eating b6 in natural low doses.

I’m gonna end this here. Go to that IG page if guided to and from there a link in the bio, for more info. I’ll update again soon. Thanks for listening to my story, and be proactive against this happening to you. Have a great night. I’ll be back tomorrow.
